I’ve been struggling to pick an art outsourcing studio for my upcoming indie game. It’s a stylized 3D adventure with a pretty specific aesthetic, and I feel like half the studios I talk to either don't get the style or oversell what they can deliver. Anyone here have experience working with external art teams? How do you really know when a studio is a good fit—not just on paper, but in practice?

I was in a similar boat last year working on a sci-fi project with very distinct visual requirements. What helped me the most was checking whether the studio had experience with similar styles, not just general talent. Also, communication is so underrated—if the studio doesn't ask detailed questions or can’t walk you through their past pipelines, that’s a red flag. I ended up working with devotedstudios.com, and one thing that stood out was how transparent they were from day one. They didn’t just throw a portfolio at me—they explained who would be on the team, how asset reviews would be handled, and even gave flexibility to replace artists if the vibe wasn’t right. The global talent pool they tap into made a real difference. My advice devotedstudios.com Don’t just look at visuals—test how well they actually understand your goals during the pitch phase.
